ABOUT THE MAZ

The Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute has an all-star team of highly skilled cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiac care professionals, researchers and educators who are using the latest technology, emerging treatments and innovative approaches with a common goal in mind—to combat all aspects of heart disease through comprehensive cardiac care.

Since the Heart Institute opened in 2009, it has treated an average of 35,000 patients each year. There have been many achievements in complex cardiac care at the Heart Institute. Among those achievements, the Heart Institute is proud to be a leader in echocardiography (echo), having performed over 10,000 cardiac echocardiography tests in 2011.


ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The University Hospital Foundation raises funds to support innovation and excellence at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Kaye Edmonton Clinic and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. We work closely with Alberta Health Services to determine our funding priorities, and work with our donors to match their philanthropic interests to those priorities.

The generous support of our donors is used to enhance patient care by funding innovative technology, state of the art facilities, and transformational research. The University Hospital Foundation is delighted to be identified as a “high performer” by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.
